AES scholarship - $500 October 6, 2016 Scholarship Criteria: Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.
Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a post-secondary degree at an accredited post-secondary institution, demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or less net income per family is required), be involved in extracurricular and community activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, maintain a minimum grade percentage of 65, attend a high school and reside in Canada, be a Canadian citizen.

Schulich Leader Nominee SJA Internal application November 25, 2016 For students intending to enrol in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) areas of study at one of the 20 selected universities (see application for this list). SJA can submit one Schulich Leader Nominee. Nominees must possess at least tow of three criteria: Outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership, academic excellence and/or financial need. Peter Kohler Scholarship - $50,000 Nov. 30, 2016

The Peter Kohler Scholarship is awarded to a student who hopes to enter their first year of full-time studies in an Engineering Program at a University in Atlantic Canada in September 2017. This award is open to both graduating high school students, and students from a community college. Applicants will be adjudicated upon the basis of their financial need and their character, with preference given to students who display entrepreneurial spirit. The award is valued at $50,000, distributed over a period of four years – an outstanding opportunity for young Nova Scotian innovators who are facing financial hardship to excel and flourish.

D&R Sobey Atlantic Scholarship - $80,000 Dec. 1, 2016

Current resident of one of the four Atlantic Provinces, Entering first year of the undergraduate Commerce program at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, Academic excellence, Involvement in school or community activities, Proven leadership, Valued at $80,000 per student, the scholarship is awarded in equal amounts of $20,000 annually throughout the four-year undergraduate Commerce program.  It is renewable provided that a minimum 75% average is achieved in the first year of study and a minimum 80% average is achieved in each subsequent year while enrolled in a full course load. Anthony Johnstone Memorial Entrance Scholarship - $6,000 March 31, 2017 To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must live in Nova Scotia, be graduating from high school and beginning an undergraduate degree program at a Maritime university in the fall. Champion of the Environment Scholarship 2017 - $20,000 in scholarships April 22, 2017
Are you a Grade 12 student in Nova Scotia, who has demonstrated a commitment to the environment through your school or community?
Divert NS is offering $20,000 in scholarships to students who have exemplified leadership in protecting our environment.
To be awarded one of the seven scholarships available, your entry must include:
  • A summary of your recent environmental activities in your school or community
  • A letter of reference from someone in your school or community that is familiar with your environmental activities
  • A research essay on the issue of food waste
  • A contact information form (included in this package)

Environment Scholarship - 5 x $1,000 April 28, 2017
  • Entering into the first year of an undergraduate environmental-related program at a Nova Scotia post-secondary institution.
  • Applicants must be graduating or have graduated from a Nova Scotia high school and entering their first year of post-secondary education within 15 months of their high school graduation.
  • Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants, and a permanent resident of Nova Scotia for at least three years, two years of which are immediately prior to high school graduation.

Essay: Submit an essay describing candidate’s eligibility for the award. (Essay should describe the applicant’s understanding and vision of oneself, one’s immediate circle and family, siblings and close friends. It should describe one’s vision of society, area, town, province, country, the earth, world and complete existence. Cognitive development of a teenager will be considered in assessment. Highlander Law Group Scholarship -  $500 May 26, 2017 Grade 12 students from SJA who are enrolling in a post-secondary institution in the Fall of 2017. Applicants must be members or adherents of the African United Baptist Association of Nova Scotia.

Medes College bursaries - 2 x $1,000 and 2 x $500 May 31, 2017

(2) bursaries of $1000 each for Medical Esthetics and/or Esthetics Program and (2) bursaries of $500 for Makeup Artistry and/or Nail Technology Program. Kidney Foundation of Canada Bursary - 4 awards of $500  

Selection of bursary recipients will be on the basis of their academic achievement, leadership, financial need and professional goals.

Any kidney patient, the spouse of a kidney patient, or a dependent child of a kidney patient, may apply for a bursary. A kidney patient is defined as one on any mode of dialysis, is transplanted or has been diagnosed with chronic renal disease.

The applicant must be a permanent resident of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador or Prince Edward Island.

All post-secondary programs must be approved and recognized by accredited institution.

The selection committee will choose the recipients based on the applications submitted by June 15th and according to the approved criteria

Pat Lord Post Secondary Eduction Award - $2,000 June 1, 2017 Any youth who was in the care of the Children's Aid Society of Pictou County and who was placed for adoption either in Pictou County or elsewhere in Nova Scotia. It is also available to youth who were in care elsewhere in NS and who were placed with adoptive families in Pictou County. Abbott & Fenner Scholarship - $1,000 June 12, 2017 The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.

CrazyGames Scholarship - $1,500 January 15, 2018
  1. Must be currently attending University or college (or set to attend) during the 2017 calendar year.
  2. Must be in good standing with current or prospective institution.
  3. Must apply to the content via email, providing name, address, university name, major and your expected graduation month and year.

NSEF Educational Bursary - $500 - 6 awards May 1, 2016
NSEF also provides an opportunity for members to apply for its NSEF Educational Bursary whereby up to six NSEF members who are enrolled in a post-secondary institution will receive $500. The completed applications for the bursary must be received by May 1st of each year.

Wessex Scholarship - $5,000 - 1 award May 1, 2016 This scholarship is a $5,000 award and is targeted towards students who will be studying in a healthcare related program at an Atlantic Canadian degree granting institution. This scholarship focuses on the impact of community service and as such, applicants should be active participants in their community. Minimum average of 80% is required. Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy Scholarship -- $10,000 university scholarship - 8 awards, and $2,500 NSCC scholarship - 8 awards May 6, 2016 For university (business, sciences or engineering): you must demonstrate leadership potential, as well as a record of community involvement and a strong (75% and higher), not necessarily the highest, academic standing. Must not be accepting other scholarships in excess of $2,000. Scott Family Bursary - $500 - 1 award June 1, 2016

A Scholarship Fund for Relatives of Former Residents of the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children, 17-25 years of age. This bursary is available to any Canadian citizen of African-Nova Scotian or African-New Brunswick descent and/or any person (regardless of race) who can demonstrate a proven biological connection to a former resident of the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children. Also, the applicant must be between the age of 17 and 25 and continuing his or her academic studies or technical training in the current or upcoming school year. No individual can nominate him/herself for the award. Nor can they be nominated by a family member. Pat Lord Post Secondary Education award for Pictou County Adoptees - $2,000 - 1 award June 8, 2015 Any youth who was in the care of the Children's Aid Society of Pictou County and who was placed for adoption either in Pictou County or elsewhere in Nova Scotia. It is also available to youth who were in care elsewhere in NS and who were placed with adoptive families in Pictou County. StFX Class of '54 Bursary Endowment Fund - $6,000 - 1 award June 15, 2016 St. Francis Xavier University is again offering the Class of ’54 Bursary Endowment Fund to a graduating student from Nova Scotia. This $6000 award is available to a NS student coming directly from a NS public high school to St. Francis Xavier University who is in severe financial need. Receiving this award would allow someone to attend StFX who otherwise might not be able to attend due to financial reasons. StFX CIBC Scholarship Award - $4,000- 1 award June 15, 2016

The CIBC Scholastic Award was established by CIBC as part of their commitment to making a difference in communities through sponsorships with strategic focus on youth and education. This $4000 bursary is open to all Canadian citizens from any province or territory in Canada. This bursary will be awarded to a student demonstrating financial need and also leadership achievements in community and high school as reflected by their extracurricular activities. Two letters of reference are required, at least one of which must be from the applicant’s high school guidance counsellor or a high school teacher. This bursary requires a minimum high school average of 80% to be considered for the award and has the potential to be renewable in subsequent years of study at StFX.
